Planning a mountain wedding in the Canadian Rockies is a dream for many couples, but the first question to consider is a big one…
How much does a wedding in Canmore actually cost?
Whether you’re comparing a Canmore wedding cost or a Banff wedding cost, or looking for the average Alberta wedding cost, the answer depends on several factors, including guest count, venue style, food, décor, and planning support.
In this blog, we’ll break down the typical costs of an average Canmore wedding so you can get a picture of what you should budget for your dream mountain wedding.

The TL;DR Version
Most couples planning a mountain wedding in Canmore or Banff spend anywhere between $30,000 and $70,000 (CAD).
Of course, this average budget varies widely depending on guest count, venue type, catering, and vendor selection.
Canmore venues are often slightly more affordable while offering the same (if not better) Rocky Mountain scenery. However, couples who choose all-inclusive venues can often reduce costs significantly by bundling services together.
Venue Pricing in Canmore
Your venue will be your largest expense when planning a Canmore wedding.
Many venues in town follow a traditional pricing structure that charges separately for venue rental, ceremony space, setup and teardown, and food and beverage, with most requiring a food and beverage minimum spend.
But some venues (like ours) offer all-inclusive minimum spends which bundle these services together under one package to simplify the planning and budgeting process.
For example, our all-inclusive minimum spend works like this: every dollar you spend with us counts towards the overall minimum required to rent the venue for the day. This includes…
- Your ceremony and reception package (this includes the venue rental).
- A dedicated Wedding Coordinator to help plan and execute your big day.
- Your food and beverage selections (including what your guests spend at the bar).
- Full setup and teardown of your décor
- In-house décor selections (fewer vendors to communicate with)
- All staff needed to orchestrate a perfect wedding
This structure allows you to plan your wedding with one clear budget rather than multiple vendor contracts (in other words, your budget goes further).

Catering and Bar Costs
Food and beverage is also a major component of the Canmore wedding cost.
Most venues price their catering per guest, typically ranging from $50-$200 per person. This includes menu options like plated multi-course dinners, buffets, or family-style dining.
For 2027, our menus range from $69-99, with savoury and sweet stations coming in around $10-22 per person.
Bar pricing can vary widely from venue to venue. However, the rule of thumb to calculate your bar spend is to estimate one drink per guest per hour of your reception for average drinkers.
Planning Tip: Look for a venue that offers a variety of options for your bar setup. For example, we offer the option of open bar (with limitations if desired), subsidized bar with drink tickets, and cash bar.
Another bonus: at Cornerstone venues, your bar spend counts towards your overall minimum spend, even if it’s a cash bar.
Décor Costs
Décor is one of the most romanticized aspects of wedding planning… until you see the price for your vision.
This is one of those areas where prices vary too much to estimate a true average, but you can expect to see quotes of $800-2,000 for table linens, $800-3,000 for florals, and $200-1,500 for signage.
It’s important to keep in mind that most décor and rental companies charge extra for line items like delivery, setup, teardown, and damage deposits.
This is another area where venues with in-house décor collections can save you thousands of dollars.
We offer curated décor packages at all three of our venues, including tableware upgrades, stationery services, faux candle and charger plate rentals, and more.
How to Save Money on a Canmore Wedding
If you’re planning a mountain wedding but want to keep costs manageable, here are a few strategies that can make a big difference.
Choose a weekday or shoulder season date: Weekend summer weddings are the most expensive dates in the Rockies. Many venues (like ours) offer lower rates for weekday weddings or spring and fall celebrations.
- Consider an all-inclusive venue: Bundled packages often reduce costs by eliminating external vendor fees and rentals.
- Simplify décor: The Rocky Mountains already provide a spectacular backdrop, meaning couples can often use minimal décor while still creating a stunning atmosphere.
- Keep guest counts manageable: Food and beverage costs scale with guest count, so trimming the guest list can significantly impact the final budget.
