Step 1: Choose the Right Alberta Wedding Destination First

When planning remotely, location and venue selection matter more than anything else. Not all Alberta wedding destinations offer the same level of accessibility or support.

When evaluating locations, consider:

• Travel convenience for guests (proximity to Calgary is key for the mountains)
• Accommodation availability nearby
• Weather flexibility (indoor/outdoor options)
• Local vendor availability

Speaking of the mountains, while Banff is world-famous, it often comes with higher costs (especially for guest accommodation), more restrictions due to its status as a National Park, and limited flexibility due to high demand (you’ll want to book at least 1.5 years in advance).

Destinations like Canmore offer comparable mountain views, better affordability, and more flexibility in venue design and experience.

Step 2: Prioritize All-Inclusive or All-in-One Venues

If you’re planning from out of province, your venue will become the single most important decision you’ll make. When doing your research, be sure to check what each venue includes for setup, teardown, and decor, as these items can become more complicated when travelling for your wedding.

Better yet, keep an eye out for all-in-one venues that offer built-in planning support, in-house catering and decor offerings, local vendor partnerships, and streamlined communication (hint: that’s us). This way, instead of managing 10+ vendors, you’re working with one experienced team that understands how destination weddings function.

Step 3: Schedule One (Strategic) Planning Visit

You don’t need multiple trips to plan a destination wedding. In fact, most couples only need one well-planned visit.

Not only do we offer virtual venue tours, hosted by one of our Wedding Coordinators, but we also provide a Food Tasting and Planning Meeting as part of your investment. That means even if you book the venue sight unseen, you’ll have an extensive day of planning on-site to check off your wedding to-do list (and meet with other vendors if you choose to).

During this meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to sit down with your assigned Coordinator to discuss layout, seating arrangements, and decor. Our chef will also provide you with a selection of menu items to taste so you can choose your dream menu.
