The weather was beautiful, the couple were just perfect together and they picked an outstanding photographer Jayden Campbell and a second shooter Courtney Hoskin.

We don’t always get to hear the full love story of our couples, but this one I will remember forever as it was very special.  Jocelyn and Ryan first met as kids and got together as a couple in their teens.  They had already been together 10 years by the time they got married and they were still in their late twenties.  I think everyone had been eagerly anticipating this day for a long time.

As their families had known them both for so long and had seen them grow from children into adults they had many beautiful, funny and loving stories to tell during speeches.  Although we frequently see tears at Cornerstone Weddings, infrequently it is the staff and my Event Manager and I really had to catch our breath a number of times over the day to stop a trickle falling down our cheeks.

Cornerstone Weddings was fortunate to coordinate their wedding ceremony too and the couple said their I Do’s at Quarry Lake.  Jayden Campbell took some spectacular photos with their wedding party in the surrounding area including the reservoir in Canmore.

Their copper and green eucalyptus décor and trendy geometric shapes were simple and classy and really complemented the rustic feel of our theatre.  Our fairytale lights added to their classic décor and the room looked stunning.  The copper pipe seating chart was unique and the fireplace showed photos of the two of them from prom to graduation.

Guests arrived to the reception at 5pm and were welcomed with a glass of prosecco.

Their buffet dinner comprised of maple glazed salmon, beef wellington served from our carving station and brie and spinach stuffed chicken breasts. Two potatoes, two salads and roasted root vegetables accompanied their meal.

One of the funniest moments during the day was when the MC, who had know the couple a long time, mentioned that Ryan had never kissed another girl besides Jocelyn.  This was an incredibly sweet and touching moment, until she ran up on stage and gave Ryan a kiss on the lips.  One of the most memorable moments I’ve personally seen at the theatre and it was all accepted by Jocelyn and Ryan in great spirit.

After speeches, throwing of the bouquet, their first dance and the cake cutting they partied into the wee hours of the morning with music from our in-house DJ Gaston.  Around 11pm we served guests a perogie bar with a choice of delicious toppings.
