The Perfect Outdoor Wedding
Are you hoping to have a gorgeous outdoor wedding ceremony that allows you to incorporate your love of the mountains into your big day?
Outdoor ceremonies can be a wonderful way to take advantage of Alberta’s beautiful backyard, especially during summer in the Rockies.
At Cornerstone Weddings, we help happy couples say “I do” at some of the most stunning locations throughout Canmore. We know that outdoor weddings require some planning to get things just right and are happy to guide you along the process. If you’re planning on exchanging vows in the great outdoors, below are a few tips to keep in mind.
Here Comes The…Sun?
It’s no secret that the biggest challenge of planning an outdoor ceremony is that mountain weather can be extremely unpredictable. To avoid mother nature spoiling your big day, you’ll want to plan ahead. Having some clear umbrellas available are a great option for guests so they can still see you. Furthermore, using them for your wedding photos is a great option too. Your photographer can work with them to create some amazing shots..
Even with an ideal forecast, it’s always best to plan ahead so you’ll be prepared for anything nature brings. We highly suggest having a backup venue as this will give you peace of mind should the weather decide to change.
Summer in the Rockies can be a gorgeous time full of long hours of sunlight and warm temperatures. Enjoying some warm rays alongside breathtaking views is awesome for you and your guests. However, it’s important to remember that most attendees will be formally attired. This can be less comfortable in higher temperatures. Hot days can be fatiguing for everyone, and prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to sunburns without the proper precautions. Avoid these kinds of issues by having plenty of sunscreen and water available on hand. Additionally, ensuring your outdoor venue has shade available is also an added bonus. Having fans available is another thoughtful addition. A nice idea is your wedding program as a fan!
The Town of Canmore requires that outdoor ceremonies and weddings obtain a permit for all parks. If you’re planning on hosting a ceremony within the town, you’ll want to ensure you obtain a permit early. It’s also best to try and book early where venues are important to avoid disappointment. Couples booking through Cornerstone Wedding’s available outdoor venues do not need to worry about obtaining a permit.
Finally, if the thought of having less control over certain elements (not to mention the elements) causes you to stress, it may be best to stick with an indoor ceremony, which still gives you the opportunity for plenty of outdoor photos afterwards. Cornerstone Weddings offers stunning indoor wedding ceremonies and receptions both through our namesake theatre, as well as the Canmore Nordic Centre.
